Our Story

Cater Elementary was built in 1964. The original school served grades 1 through 6. The school was built on land donated by Mrs. Sam H Cater II, a family member who lived in the area for many years. Tommy Cox was the first principal of this six classroom school. Mrs. Anna Marie Brodie succeeded Mr. Cox in 1965. During the time she was principal, 6 more classroom were added to the building. In 1998, as part of a bond, Cater received a multi-purpose gym for students to use for physical education classes and large group activities.

As part of the 2016 bond, Cater received a renovation and expansion to the library and building. In 2020, new playground equipment was installed.

Today, Cater Elementary serves children in grades Kindergarten through 5th grade in 29 classrooms.
