Accelerated Reader

Accelerated Reader (in district only)

Accelerated Reader (AR) is a program that encourages reading. Students take a STAR Reading test to determine their ZPD (Zone of Proximal Development). The ZPD helps define the readability range so that students can grow in reading skills with minimum frustration. When students complete a book, they can then take an AR test. Students should strive to consistently score 85% or above on AR tests. It is important that students read books that are challenging, so if a student is consistently scoring 100% on AR tests, he/she should probably find books with a higher book level in his/her ZPD. Students accumulate points for AR tests as added incentive.

Accelerated Reader - Home Connect

Students can log into Home Connect to see their progress in Accelerated Reader from home. Click on the link above and log in with your student ID number and regular computer login password. You can also go to AR Book Finder from this link.

AR Book Finder

Students and parents can use AR Book Finder to search for books by author, topic, reading level, or title that are included in the Accelerated Reader program. You will then be able to sort your search results, select book titles to add to your AR BookBag and print a list of your search results.  For more information about finding AR books, click here.
